The C/A Psychiatry Physician position is a fulltime employed position with Monday – Friday schedule. Patient care caseload will be 14 patients in the inpatient program. Duties include admissions evaluations, daily care of the assigned patients, discharge summaries, and treatment team leadership and management. The ideal candidate will be BE/BC in Psychiatry and must have Formal C/A Psychiatry Fellowship training. Experience in an Inpatient behavioral health facility is a plus. There is a minimal required call.

Core Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate scheduled patient consistent with prevailing practice standards. This includes collection of psychiatric history, relevant medical history, social and family history, mental status exam, diagnosis, and devising a treatment recommendation 
  • Establish rapport with patient to assist them in understanding and accepting treatment recommendations within a shared decision making model
  • To prescribe and implement treatment consistent with diagnosis and relevant standards, including the prescription of medications consistent with the ARNP’s scope of practice
  • Complete records accurately and in a timely fashion. Generally, this means the same day of the service provided, but no later 48 hours after seen.
  • Code services consistent with ethical and legal billing standards
  • Cooperate with other medical services around vacation coverage, both direct and medication refills as necessary.

Knowledge, Technical and Soft Skills:

  • To accurately diagnosis consistent with current DSM and ICD codes
  • Ability to use electronic medical records and willingness to learn and use the ABHC EMR(s) including ePrescription.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clinicians, administrative staff, and management staff to provide the best care to all clients/patients of ABHC. 
  • Have no prohibition from contracting with governmental agencies.

Seattle University has a new opportunity for a licensed psychiatrist to join the Student Health Center (SHC) department. Provides culturally informed direct clinical service to students, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health problems, primarily focusing on medication management for mental health needs. Position supports the University’s efforts to provide a healthy, safe, and accessible environment for students. Works collaboratively with Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners in the SHC as well as clinicians in the office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Essential Functions
• Consultation
- Serves as a resource and provides consultation to staff of the SHC and CAPS. 
- Provide one on one consultation to both SHC and CAPS providers regarding patients under their care. 
- Support the ARNPs through regular consultation including advising on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies. 
- Be available to provide occasional telephone consultation to ARNPs for urgent patient situations that cannot wait for return to the clinic.

• Psychiatric Care: 
- Direct evaluation of patients with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges who are identified in discussion with the patient’s ARNP or CAPS provider. These patients will primarily be students with an unclear diagnosis, more complex mental health conditions and/or treatment resistant. Students will be screened (and possibly evaluated in depth) by a provider in SHC and/or CAPS and not self-referred. Patients in need of more extensive care by psychiatry will be referred to off campus care.

• Provides clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. This includes:

- obtaining a relevant medical and psychiatric history

- formulating an appropriate differential diagnosis based on the history and clinical findings

- developing an appropriate plan of care and a follow up plan of care

• Provide psychopharmacologic interventions to treat symptoms of a full range of psychiatric illnesses based on current best practices and accepted standards of clinical management.

• Follow current best practices in psychopharmacologic management and develop an individualized treatment approach based on symptoms, preferences, culture, lifestyle, co-morbidities, risks, and benefits of the plan for the student.

• Maintains appropriate documentation for all services in our electronic medical records system.

• Education

- Development and delivery of meeting discussions and/or in-service trainings for staff of SHC and CAPS regarding recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of behavior health conditions. 

Additional Job Functions 
Stays current with advances in psychiatry through appropriate continuing education as required for licensure. 
Performs other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Job Title: Medical Director of Quality - Remote

We are looking for a Medical Director of Quality (MDQ) for 20 hours per week who will work remotely.

Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will be mission-driven with a desire to make a difference for people and communities served by LCS Northwest. The MDQ is a key member of the quality management team, providing expert leadership and guidance to ensure that our medical personnel and medical practices meet best practice standards and LCSNW's high standards of quality. The MDQ will work with a diverse staff who serve culturally and linguistically rich communities and individuals to promote client recovery and improve outcomes.

The role: The MDQ is a key member of LCSNW’s Quality Management (QM) team. The MDQ provides medical leadership and expert guidance in relevant quality management, utilization review and risk management processes. The MDQ will be a resource, mentor and guide to each of LCSNW’s Licensed Medical Providers (LMPs) which currently include both independent contractors and staff and involve approximately 8 providers operating out of seven District Offices in the states of Oregon and Washington. An expansion to Idaho is likely. The MDQ will provide clinical oversight of the LMPs, working closely with each local District’s administrative oversight teams to seamlessly align clinical and administrative guidance and support. 

The role will also:

  • Develop and maintain medical policies consistent with standard medical practice and LCSNW philosophy, to include policies on controlled and addictive substances. 
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to LMPs for the purposes of improving practices and/or bringing practices in line with LCSNW policy and philosophy.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional working relationships with district directors, Quality Management team members and the LMPs.
  • Demonstrate and lead an awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served and our mission.        
  • Provide license validation of agency prescribers to complete surescript certification to allow for electronic prescribing utilizing the agency Electronic Health Record (EHR).   
  • Work with local administrative management teams to identify charts for review. Review charts and provide expert guidance and consultative advice to prescribers and local QM teams for quality improvements. Charts may be identified for review based on:
    • Complaint or grievance from client, family or community partner
    • Concern expressed by other staff
    • Concern raised in administrative chart review  
    • Health or safety concern involving client           
    • Client suicide
    • Other areas of concern identified by the MDQ or local QM teams                 
  • Work with District staff and local LMP to implement quality improvement or preventive activities.
  • Serve as a physician resource for the agency and District Offices in reviews on, for example, risk management, quality improvement, client safety, utilization review, and Fraud, Waste and Abuse as needed.      
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding of new LMPs.
  • Develop process for ongoing staff education and case consultation.          
  • Provide expert guidance in the vetting, development and review of new initiatives, such as (but not limited to) healthcare integration, the shift to performance based contracting and medication assisted treatment.
  • Serve as Medical Director for substance use disorder services in Oregon as defined by OAR 309-019-0105 and 309-019-0200.

Education and Experience: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree is required. Must have a current and unrestricted active license in either Oregon State or Washington State at hire, and be able to have an unrestricted license in both states within three months of hire. Must be willing to add a license for Idaho if anticipated program expansion occurs. Minimum of five years active practice, with experience prescribing psychotropic medications required. A specialty in behavioral health preferred. Administrative experience preferred. Experience serving diverse communities preferred.

Northwest Permanente, P.C. is currently seeking BC/BE Adult Psychiatrists to staff our facilities throughout the Portland Metro area and Salem, Oregon as well as in Longview-Kelso and Vancouver, Washington. The positions are outpatient with some virtual care, consultations occurring in our ERs and require compatibility with physicians in the primary care setting. Candidates should have experience in medication consultation, crisis intervention, evidence-based psychiatric treatments and psychiatric consultations. We also have openings for Inpatient Psychiatrists at our Brookside Center in Portland, Oregon.

Parking is available adjacent to the building and on the street. The space is ideal for a standard psychiatric or other mental health-type practice, working with individuals, couples, children, and/or small groups.

I am ideally looking for a full-time sublease arrangement, but less than this (e.g., three-quarters or half-time) might be possible. The practitioner would need to make a long-term (2 year minimum) commitment, though other arrangements could be considered.
